3293 The Economic Cost of Workplace Discrimination in France - Billions of euros in lost potential The Economic Cost of Workplace Discrimination in France France Stratégie has conducted the country’s first detailed study gauging the staggering economic costs of workplace discrimination. Unsurprisingly, women and descendants of immigrants suffer the largest consequences. The upshot: France stands to gain some €150 billion, or 6.9% of the 2015 GDP, over 20 years (i.e. a 0.35% increase in GDP per year) by increasing access to skilled jobs and the overall employment rate for women and minorities. 3479 L’enjeu de la concurrence en France, le cas des services L’enjeu de la concurrence en France, le cas des services Le degré de concurrence sur les marchés est un paramètre tout à fait fondamental du bon fonctionnement de l’économie. Dans le domaine des biens marchands, le commerce international contribue depuis longtemps à organiser la production par une mise en concurrence des acteurs à l’échelle internationale ; dans le domaine des services, les questions de concurrence peuvent sembler avant tout une question nationale. Pourtant, la compétitivité dépend aussi du bon fonctionnement des marchés des services, même lorsqu’ils ne sont pas exposés à la concurrence internationale, car ils sont imbriqués à l’activité de production des secteurs exposés via différents canaux. L’approche comparative montre que la France souffre, dans certains services, d’un déficit de concurrence, ayant conduit à des hausses des prix conséquentes. L’action publique peut aider à faire baisser le niveau des prix dans ces secteurs et réduire les éventuelles situations de rente au bénéfice du pouvoir d’achat, de la croissance et de l’emploi.
